No.

I cover this in On the Historicity of Jesus (which has a scripture index, so you can go right to it).

TL;DR: the Greek says “forewritten” not “portrayed.” The verse is referring to the Galatians having been shown the scriptures predicting Jesus; not their having strangely time traveled back decades to earlier Jerusalem and watched it. So, basically, you are being gulled by a bad translation. Which puts you in common company. This is why we can’t trust translations.

Mr Carrier! Quick question wouldn’t Gal 3:1 refute mythicism? Since Jesus is said to be viewed by the Galileans as crucified?

Doesn’t/can’t AI do audio books or readings?

Too long ago for me to recall. No such point was in the slides. And archive.org does not indicate any change in length of the video since it was published. That video is only 36 minutes long, however. So it doesn’t include the Q&A.

If any such cut was made, no one told me. Can you give me a timestamp where you think the cut was made? We can inspect the video there for signs of editing.

Recently re-watching your excellent raprure day lecture, I noticed that it was missing a passage about Zionism and the modern consequences of believing in the end of the world. Was the fragment of the lecture actually removed or is my memory playing tricks on me?
Greetings from Poland

The audio benefits a lot of people. So I definitely want there to be audio! It just has been a production problem.

I hope it will soon be available in audiobook format. I don’t like to say so, but I have a lot of trouble /reading./ I mean, I read really well! And I comprehend things I read intimately. It just takes me a long time. And audiobooks end up being a lot easier for me to fully absorbed. IDK why :-/

(Now that I think about it, I am very special, in a needs kind of way, but I don’t want to impose my accommodations on anybody else. I just hope that people understand them, and I’m really happen when they are recognized.)

The challenge is getting a publisher on board.

So, what you would have to do is write query letters to some publishers in Japan, describing your proposal, that you have my permission to explore this, and that the original publisher (Pitchstone Books) will be amenable to a subsidiary rights contract. If one accepts the proposal, we can get them in touch with Pitchstone, and once a contract is hammered out and signed, you and I would work together on building the translation for them.

The actual way royalties get calculated is not straightforward. The Japanese publisher has to pay Pitchstone per sale (periodically; typical is quarterly or biannually), and then Pitchstone pays me a percentage of that. Whatever my share would be, at the downstream end, I would gladly share 50/50 with you as translator. But how that gets paid would have to be worked out between the publishers (international law and economics will affect the details).

However, this is a niche market book. Any royalties you received even at that generous scale will not likely be very substantial. I can’t predict what they’ll be. So I can’t make any monetary promises.

But if you are still interested, you have my permission to query publishers in Japan and begin this process. If one shows interest, then contact me by email (richard.carrier@icloud.com) and we will proceed from there.
