AI Says Tomi Lahren Is an Idiot: A Critical Thinking Exercise

Richard Carrier — Mon, 10 Aug 2026 20:25:02 +0000

Everyone knows I think AI is garbage and should never be trusted to do the work for you. You always have to Do Your Own Research for real to ensure AI hasn’t conned you or left things out or misstated things. Think of it as a sketchy high school dropout on weed and act accordingly. […]

My Starter Kit in Social Justice

Richard Carrier — Mon, 13 Jul 2026 19:23:48 +0000

My website’s category dropdown menu includes many social justice issues like racism, sexism, ableism, classism, privilege, feminism and men’s issues, gender and transgenderism, gay pride, culture, environment, polyamory, etc. And to understand why, the National Association of Social Workers has the best introductory explanation of what social justice is and why it’s important that I’ve […]

Three Unexpected Recommendations in Philosophy

Richard Carrier — Wed, 08 Apr 2026 18:17:27 +0000

As always, I get a commission on anything you buy on Amazon after clicking any link on my website, here or elsewhere. Heck, I get a commission on everything in your cart when you check out within 24 hours after following a link from my site, even if you don’t buy the item you clicked […]

How Pseudo-Rationality Grounds Conservative Worldviews: My Debatecon Followup

Richard Carrier — Sat, 29 Nov 2025 20:42:17 +0000

This month I was invited to two debates at Debatecon 6 in Nashville hosted by Modern Day Debate: the existence of God with Michael Jones of Inspiring Philosophy and Christian Nationalism vs. Secular Humanism with Andrew Wilson. It was okay. But I have thoughts. I’ll first describe my personal impressions. Then summarize why the Wilson […]

The Carrier-Wilson Debate in Nashville: Christianity Or Secular Humanism, Which Is Best for Society?

Richard Carrier — Fri, 15 Aug 2025 16:06:56 +0000

I will be debating Andrew Wilson, live on stage, in Nashville, Tennessee, this November 16. Yes, that Andrew Wilson. I expect it will be a dumpster fire like it was with Sargon, and as experienced by Dillahunty last year with Wilson. But I’ll stick around. Because I only do this for real money now, as […]

Is Christianity Exploding in Asia? A Critical Thinking Test

Richard Carrier — Wed, 09 Jul 2025 15:43:12 +0000

If you go looking around you’ll find an endless barrage of Christian media claims that Christianity is exploding in popularity in Asia, and that this proves the power of Christ and the convincing truth of the Christian message. I won’t link to any examples because this mostly shows up on shady propaganda sites that I […]

A Continuing List of Examples of Alt-Righters Escaping Their Delusions

Richard Carrier — Mon, 02 Jun 2025 17:30:58 +0000

I am collecting stories of people who escaped secular delusions, like sexism, misogyny, racism, antisemitism, transphobia, or even, just more generally, alt-right, anti-feminist or “anti-SJW’ worldviews. These are the kinds of delusions that trap atheists. And even when their victims are religious, the stories are still often the same, or similar enough that you will […]

Help Me Join the June 6 Veteran’s Rally in DC!

Richard Carrier — Tue, 06 May 2025 17:03:41 +0000

This is an important one to me. My service was an eon ago but it still affects me to this day. And what’s happening now needs attention. See below for what I need. But here’s why… Hundreds of thousands of veterans (half of them disabled) are losing their jobs, including 86,000 jobs at the VA […]

We Might Be Living in a Diasimocracy

Richard Carrier — Mon, 05 May 2025 21:13:50 +0000

Philosopher Douglas Giles recently advanced an intriguing hypothesis in “Our World Is a Diasimocracy.” His entire article is a good, tight brief and worth reading in its entirety. And what I will discuss here will all be my own thoughts and claims about that (so don’t blame him for it!). But the gist of his […]

Is Gynocentrism a Thing?

Richard Carrier — Thu, 01 May 2025 01:02:41 +0000

I was hired to critique a popular video in the manosphere, Traditionalism and Feminism, the Great Gynocentrisms of Our Time. It’s 12-years old but still being commented on and at 60,000 views and counting. Its host, Barbarossa (or Barbar), is no longer active online—because, as a black (“Afro-Latino”) man, he was getting uncomfortable with the […]
